I haven't written anything in awhile but felt inclined to reintroduce myself by wishing the greatest basketball player of all time, Michael Jordan, a very happy birthday. Not that he's going to read this but if for nothing but my own pleasure.....what's up...lol. When I think about what MJ (as further known for the duration) has done for the game of basketball, I think about all of the new cats playing now with hopes of one day being compared to his greatness. I have one thing to say: WILL NEVER HAPPEN!!!! MJ had a certain finesse and humbleness that a lot of players lack today. He didn't talk about it, he was about it. He didn't talk a lot of trash about what he could do, or what others should do in the press. He lead by example. He showed what he could do. He played his kind of game like no other. Everyone around him had to follow suit. I know he didn't win alone. I know there are 4 other guys on the court at all times with him. To me, they were the potatoes and he was the steak.
When I think of today's players, of course I will use Kobe Bryant. I have to say, before going any further, I sorely dislike him(and I'm being nice). He is a beast on the court but he sucks as a person. No, I've never met the man. I'm talking about his basketball persona. I think he's an arrogant punk who thought he would be the next MJ. And he could have been but the difference between the 2 is that, he doesn't know when to shut up. I wish I could talk to him as a fan of the game and tell him what the fans would like more of. The number one thing would be: Just shut up and play! This and a few other reasons is why Kobe's light will never shine as bright.
Like Kurtis Blow said, basketball is my favorite sport. I'm a former athlete so I really like all kinds of sports but basketball has always drawn me in. I have many teams that I like to watch. There are teams I like and players I like that play for teams I don't care for. I am a die-hard Dallas Mavericks fan. Have been since the days of Mark Aguirre and Rolando Blackmon. But when MJ hit the courts, he changed everything for me. He opened my eyes to what basketball really was about. It was more than 10 guys running up and down the court trying to sink about into a circular piece of metal. There was a style that was necessary. It was almost like watching ballet but without the tutus and ballerinas. MJ changed everything in my eyes as far as the game. I love MJ. I respect what he did for basketball and I love how humble he was in doing it. He will always be the GOAT! I'm just blessed to have been alive during that time to witness it.

No Title
Everyone that knows me personally knows that I am the biggest Prince fan ever. I have had all of his records at one time or another in my lifetime. He's the consummate artist, overall. Now I love music period. I go thru periods where I get obsessed with certain types of music. This time last year it was salsa. I had seen the movie El Cantante and fell in the love with the music. I've always liked salsa but when I saw the movie I became obsessed with needing to know more. So of course, Hector Lavoe was my focus. So after I exhausted that I went thru other obsessions. Trust me, it would take forever to remember and to list them all. I do that. I guess you could say I'm an obsessive person. I'm always feigning for knowledge. Anyway, my current obsession is Jay-Z. Not that I haven't always been a fan because I have but see...he's coming to Texas in a couple weeks and I MUST GO THE SHOW! Now when Prince came for my birthday a few years ago, I went and it was the same thing and I know everything there is to know about him. My obsession with Jay-Z is different because I'm finding out things about him that are worth this obsession.
I'm a product of the hip hop culture. I can relate. I am an underdog. So from back before I can remember, I've been a fan. I remember my first concert was seeing Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince. Nobody was there, but that was ok with me. I was in heaven. From there, I've gone to countless shows and can't believe I haven't seen Jay yet. Jay to me, has brought back what I know true hip hop to be. Not because he's from New York and that's where hip hop originated, but because of the man himself. He's a rare breed. He's got everything an artist is supposed to have. He's smart about music, his flow is sick, his business acumen is crazy, and he seems to be a genuinely nice guy. Now you hear stories about him and his past dealings with people but that's never swayed my opinion of him. I've always found myself defending him or trying to explain what I think his part of the story may be. (Yeah right.) Recently I had to go back to the very beginning of his career and start at the beginning to remember why I fell in love with him in when I saw the Foxy Brown video. People talk about his swagger but he's always had that swagger if you ever paid attention. He's just a really smooth cat. It's a turn-on for a woman like me. I could completely understand why Beyonce would fall in love with someone like him. How could you not? Now I'm not going to keep writing about this man because I think by now you get it. I do love me some Jay, Jigga, Hova, all that. He's the shiznit for real.
I'm shortening this because it's 12:52AM and I'm late. I'm supposed to be getting ready to have a drink with my friend for her birthday and I'm writing. But this is me...this is what I do. I can't let my thoughts go. It's a sickness I tell ya.
Good Night and Peace!

Under Construction
I had the idea to start a blog a long time ago but never executed it because I was thinking about what others would think. I'm a very grown woman that grew up in the hip hop culture but I still love hip hop. I love music period. So I wanted to start a music blog but them shyts is already flooding the net. So I decided I would just write about anything I'm feeling at the moment and why not in a blog. I don't have a lot to hide in the way of my thoughts. So that's what this is going to be about. I will be giving my opinions about a lot of different things that I'm passionate about. I may even post some video blogs depending on if I'm feeling fly and sexy that day(lol). My blog is really about what I think, and while I respect everyone right to feel and think what they want about what I say, I could really give a f*ck. REALLY! I'm pretty sure I'll have to say this again but yo, whatever. This is where you will get the true essence of me. Not what I present to be. These are my real thoughts, feelings, ponderings, and conversations with or without others.
Hopefully, you'll find it interesting. I can be pretty opinionated when I want to be.
By the way, I am still working on getting my page to be exactly what I want so bear with me. I'm not feeling this look at all.
