Happy Birthday MJ!!

I haven't written anything in awhile but felt inclined to reintroduce myself by wishing the greatest basketball player of all time, Michael Jordan, a very happy birthday. Not that he's going to read this but if for nothing but my own pleasure.....what's up...lol. When I think about what MJ (as further known for the duration) has done for the game of basketball, I think about all of the new cats playing now with hopes of one day being compared to his greatness. I have one thing to say: WILL NEVER HAPPEN!!!! MJ had a certain finesse and humbleness that a lot of players lack today. He didn't talk about it, he was about it. He didn't talk a lot of trash about what he could do, or what others should do in the press. He lead by example. He showed what he could do. He played his kind of game like no other. Everyone around him had to follow suit. I know he didn't win alone. I know there are 4 other guys on the court at all times with him. To me, they were the potatoes and he was the steak.

When I think of today's players, of course I will use Kobe Bryant. I have to say, before going any further, I sorely dislike him(and I'm being nice). He is a beast on the court but he sucks as a person. No, I've never met the man. I'm talking about his basketball persona. I think he's an arrogant punk who thought he would be the next MJ. And he could have been but the difference between the 2 is that, he doesn't know when to shut up. I wish I could talk to him as a fan of the game and tell him what the fans would like more of. The number one thing would be: Just shut up and play! This and a few other reasons is why Kobe's light will never shine as bright.

Like Kurtis Blow said, basketball is my favorite sport. I'm a former athlete so I really like all kinds of sports but basketball has always drawn me in. I have many teams that I like to watch. There are teams I like and players I like that play for teams I don't care for. I am a die-hard Dallas Mavericks fan. Have been since the days of Mark Aguirre and Rolando Blackmon. But when MJ hit the courts, he changed everything for me. He opened my eyes to what basketball really was about. It was more than 10 guys running up and down the court trying to sink about into a circular piece of metal. There was a style that was necessary. It was almost like watching ballet but without the tutus and ballerinas. MJ changed everything in my eyes as far as the game. I love MJ. I respect what he did for basketball and I love how humble he was in doing it. He will always be the GOAT! I'm just blessed to have been alive during that  time to witness it.
